At the moment, only tourist visa is available to apply online and eVisa is valid for Single Entry only. The other types will be updated soon. You can apply for maximum 5 people per application.
Foreigners are only allowed to stay in the country for 30 days once they cross the border and officially enter Laos.
- Leave Laos before their visa expires and wish to return: Apply for a new visa before entering Laos again as it is a single-entry permit that can only be used once to cross the border.
- Extend their eVisa while in Laos and the visa is still valid: Get in touch with the local immigration authorities. The eVisa holder may be asked to leave the country and apply for a new online visa from abroad.
Several other types of visas can be extended without having to exit Laos. Requirements to extend tourist visas do not differ much from the standard eVisa requirements for entry to Laos: applicants will need to provide their passport and passport-size photos and pay the relevant visa renewal application fees. You will also need to make sure to comply with the requirements relevant to applying for a visa for Laos with a criminal conviction.
By staying longer than the visa allows, the visa holder is openly breaking the terms and conditions of their visa and it is never a good idea. Aside from the penalty fee, this can affect the next time you apply for visa or even when you apply for other countries’ visa as information might be share between nations for safety reasons.
